How the guides on this site are researched, sourced, reviewed, and corrected — and why nothing here is a paid placement.
Purpose
The guides published here exist to help San Antonio-area buyers, sellers, and relocating households make better-informed decisions. They are written to be useful on their own, whether or not the reader ever contacts our office.
Sourcing
Procedural and jurisdictional information is sourced from the government agency, utility, or regulator responsible for it — appraisal districts, county and municipal offices, the Texas Comptroller, the Texas Real Estate Commission, FEMA, and similar bodies. Every guide lists the sources it draws on and links to them directly so a reader can verify a statement without taking our word for it.
We summarize source material in our own words and link to the source rather than reproducing it. We do not restate rankings, market statistics, or third-party claims that we cannot point to at an authoritative source.
Review and updates
Each guide displays the date it was last reviewed. Reviews check that agency links still resolve, that described processes still match the responsible agency's published procedure, and that nothing has become misleading. Rules, rates, forms, and deadlines change; the review date tells you how current the page is, and the source links are always more authoritative than our summary.
The current guide set was last reviewed in September 2026.
No paid placement
Nothing on this site is a paid placement. We do not sell links, accept payment for inclusion in a guide or directory, publish sponsored posts, or exchange links reciprocally. Outbound links point to official agency resources chosen because they are useful to the reader.
Where a service provider is mentioned by category — inspector, lender, title company — the reader is encouraged to compare options independently. We are compensated only through real estate brokerage services, as disclosed in the Texas Real Estate Commission notices linked in the footer of every page.
Accuracy and limitations
Information is provided for general educational purposes and may change. Confirm property-specific taxes, utilities, restrictions, school boundaries, flood information, and municipal services with the responsible agency before making a decision.
Nothing published here is legal, tax, insurance, engineering, or lending advice. Real estate transactions are property-specific and time-sensitive; the contract you sign and the records held by the responsible agency control. Corrections
If you find something inaccurate, outdated, or unclear, tell us and we will check it against the source. Substantive corrections are made to the page and the review date is updated. Send the page address and the specific statement in question through the contact form and mark it as a correction request.
